Enemies and Poop

A story we heard at worship service today that made me laugh (and is sooo true)...

A small bird got a late start south.
He was flying over a Kansas field during a blizzard, and he iced up and dropped from the sky. He thought, “My life is over, I’m going to freeze to death, alone, in this snow pile. Nothing could be worse.” Then a cow walked by and … well … pooped on him. Yup, right on top of the little bird. He mused, “I thought it couldn’t get worse, but now I’m going to freeze covered with this … (stuff).” But then he started getting warmer from his ‘surroundings’, and the feeling returned to his wings. He realized that he was not going to die after all, and he was so relieved and happy that he began singing a glorious song of triumph. After a few minutes of melodically proclaiming his victory, he heard a scratching sound. Then the hole opened, and a coyote looked in. "Let me help you out of this mess," said the coyote. Then the coyote reached in and ate the bird. The moral of the story is … “Not everyone that dumps on you is your enemy, not everyone that offers to help you is your friend, and when things are going good, for heaven's sake, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!”
